Chrysler Repair: releasing fuel pressure before re-placing fuel filter, 1998 chrysler concorde, fuel pressure regulator

Question
how to release fuel pressure before re-placing fuel filter on a 1998 Chrysler Concorde?

Answer
Hi Sonny,
I notice that the fuel filter is part of the fuel pressure regulator and that it is mounted on the fuel pump. And to replace that you have to remove the fuel tank! Are you proposing to do all that to replace the filter? There is a lot of instructions and the most efficient way to share that info would be for me to copy the pages and postal mail them to you for all those steps. If you want that give me a postal mailing address.
The pressure release procedure is to
Remove the fuel pump relay from the power distribution center under the hood.
Start and run the engine till it stalls
Attempt restart until it no longer will start
Turn ignition off
Unplug connector from any injector
Jumper from either injector terminal to + post of battery
Jumper from other terminal of injector to - poat of battery, BUT do that for no more than a second or so... otherwise the injector will be damaged.
That should relieve the pressure in the system enough to remove the regulator/filter unit at the fuel pump.
Don't forget to replace the connector to the injector and to replace the fuel pump relay. A trouble code may be set in the pcm because of removing the fuel pump relay, but if you disconnect the battery for a few seconds that should erase.
