Chrysler Repair: 2002 Chrysler Intrepid ES, clean air test, 5w 30 oil

Question
Hello Kevin,

I noticed a squeaking sound coming from the driver' side whenever the steering is turned. Once the wheels are straight there is no sound but once it is turned there is the squeak. Now I know that it is not the tire grazing the inside or the typical sound you would get when you turn the steering all the way but a mechanical-type squeaking sound.

Second, because the car is now hitting upwards of 80K KMS, I was told that the oil change no longer has to be a 5W 30 as is clearly labelled on the engine, but I should now be using a 10W 30. Is this true? It seems the car responds better with the 5w but perhaps it is just my imagination???

I also noticed that when I use the highest octane gas, the car also seems to respond bettter. I was told that if I use this gas (significantly more at the pump!) that the engine will last a very long time. Is this true?

Last, I haven't had any tune ups or engine/transmission work done on the car. Do I need any of the above? The only thing that I was told was the the hookup for the clean air test (computer of some sorts) is not working properly...perhaps I should have that fixed before warranty expires??? I don't know if the guy was telling the truth because at the end he was still able to get a reading showing that I had  emissions!

Finally, I put the ignition cleaner in with the fuel. It says that it is guaranteed to clean the ignition system so that your car will pass the clean air test. Based on this, do you still recommend an ignition flush of any kind.

I welcome any other comments that you think will be helpful in having my car last as long as possible.

Thank you.

Ree

Answer
the noise I cant help much because I am not there to hear it.
stick with the 5w 30 oil if Chrysler wanted u to change the oil type after X amount of miles they would say so in the manual. The higher octain fuel burns faster so thats why u get a little more performance out of it  its your call if u wanna use it  it will not make the engine last longer  no.
The tune up  every 30K  if u have a 2.7L engine  they put in new platinum plugs which are 100k Tranny every 60k.
as for the test  I dont know what  the codes are  or what was not passed for that test u were given.
The cleaner for the gas only thins out the mixture  and  I will tell u this  if u dont have a check engine light on and u have been driving for a week or more  u will pass that part.
