Chrysler Repair: 1995 Chrysler Concorde: theft alarm/heater self activate, 1995 chrysler concorde, push button locks

Question
I have been having problems with the heater coming on by itself but no lights show as if the heater is on. When we try to shut the heater off we can't. Once we shut the engine off and the car sets for a while, and then turn the engine back on all the information lights show and the heater is working correctly.
Also the car alarm goes off and I am not sure how to deactivate it, I remove the battery cable but as soon as I reconnect the cable and open the door on the car, the alarm goes off again.
I don't have a manual for this car so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Answer
Hi Connie,
I can give you more specific advice about the heater if you will tell me whether you have the conventional control unit or the automatic temp control unit (ATC) with a digital readout. There is a self-diagnostic test you can run yourself but I have to know which one you have.
On the theft alarm, the way to disarm it after alarming is to unlock either front door using the key. If the driver's side doesn't work then try the passenger side. There could be a wire broken in one or the other door. If you want to avoid the issue and don't care if you don't have the alarm function then just never secure the car when you leave by means of the door key, the power door lock, or the remote keyless device if you have one. Rather, just use the manual push button locks on the doors to lock it up. It could be that one of the doors is a bit loosely latched and that is why it is sending a false alarm. So check to see if a door is loose even though closed and if so just move the striker plate for that door inboard a bit.
