Ford Repair: mercury mountaineer 1998, mercury mountaineer, engine coolant

i've notice a "oil" leak from a small radiator in front of the main engine coolant radiator, left hand side. The leak is red and is of an oil base. any idea what this"oil" is?

  It sounds like what you're talking about is transmission fluid.  Most modern cars with automatic transmissions have cooling reservoirs inside or near the radiator.  Besides, transmission fluid is red-ish in color.  I would attempt to isolate where it's leaking from and patch it to avoid any transmission problems.  Hope this helps.
