Hyundai Repair: clucht replacement, negative battery cable, cotter pins

Question
I'm going to replace the clutch myself of my 1995 Hyundai accent. Can you help me with a short step guide. Thanks

Answer
Hi, Oswaldo.  I'm going to list a procedure below, but I'm going to keep things fairly brief.  I encourage you to register for a free account at www.hmaservice.com (requires Internet Explorer).  There's a procedure there along with diagrams that should be helpful.  I have no idea why the procedure there has you unbolt the wiper motor.  If you need any additional informatino beyond what's below, please follow-up.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.  Jack the front of the vehicle and place on jack stands.
3.  Remove the air box.
4.  Unbolt the clutch release cylinder from the transmission and move out of the way, but do not take the hydraulic line off.
5.  Fully disconnect the shift cables from the transmission.
6.  Unplug the reverse lamp switch.
7.  Remove the two 14mm bolts holding the starter in place.
8.  Remove the two 17mm bolts attaching the transmission to the engine.
9.  Remove the bolt holding the rear engine plate to the transmission bell housing.
10.  Remove the crossmember under the engine and transmission.
11.  Remove the front wheels.
12.  Remove the side and under engine splash shields.
13.  Drain the transmission.
14.  Disconnect both front ball joints.
15.  Remove the axle nuts and cotter pins.
16.  Remove the axle shafts.
17.  Remove the three bolts attaching the bell housing cover to the transmission.
18.  Support the engine with a floor jack (using a block of wood).
19.  Remove the upper transmission mount and bracket.
20.  Remove the two 14mm bolts attaching the transmission to the engine.
21.  Remove the transmission from the engine (careful, heavy!) and place on the ground.
22.  Remove the pressure plate and clutch disc.
23.  Replace the throwout bearing.
24.  Install a new clutch disc and throwout bearing, using an alignment tool.
25.  Reinstall the transmission and secure with the two 14mm bolts.
26.  Reinstall the upper mount.
27.  Reattach the bell housing cover.
28.  Reinstall the crossmember.
29.  Reinstall the axle shafts.
30.  Reattach the ball joints.
31.  Reinstall the axle shaft nuts with new cotter pins.
32.  Fill the transmission.
33.  Reinstall the splash shields.
34.  Reinstall the two 17mm transmission attaching bolts.
35.  Reinstall the two 14mm starter bolts.
36.  Reinstall the rear engine plate bolt.
37.  Reconnect the reverse lamp switch.
38.  Reattach the shift cables.
39.  Reinstall the release cylinder.  Since you haven't taken any part of the hydraulic line loose, you won't need to bleed the system.
40.  Reinstall the air box.
