Land Rover Repair: Handbrake, favorable recommendation, brake drum

Question
I have a Defender 90 1992 200 Tdi and need to tension the hand brake. Could you kindly tell me how to do it?

Answer
Go under the vehicle and look at the drum at the rear of the transfer case. On the front face of the drum assembly you will see a square adjuster.  With the vehicle in neutral and the back wheels off the ground twist the adjuster till the brake drum starts to grab.  Then back it off a bit till it's free again.
