Land Rover Repair: Cup Holder, land rover discovery, discovery series ii

I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery Series II.  While cleaning the dash board, I justled the pop out cup holder and can't get in back in right.  Any tips??  I can't seem to figure out what to do with the spring at the back.  Simple one, I'm sure.  Thanks!

I'm not absolutely sure about this problem. IF its anything like my slide out cup holder, you'll have to pinch the spring as you slide the cupholder into place.  The best option is to remove the cupholder from the dash, attach and 'load' the spring then reinstall the cupholder.
Let me verify this and I'll send you a followup answer.  Hopefully its just like my '95.

I've replaced my cupholder once before.  Seems the plastic guides don't last more than 4 or 5 years, maybe less if you are a frequent coffee drinker.

The newer cupholders mounted on either side of the centre console are more rugged and practical.
