Answer
Hi Marco,

I've been told that a better engine is found in the 1999 Disco.  So many changes, why not purchase a newer used Disco?

You'll need to take the electronics from the 2003 as well...new ECU with new HDC, TC and ABS system.

If you are capable with making some minor compartment changes, you should be able to change to the 2003 drive train.  Much better engine than in 97.

If you are serious about making these changes, I'll point you to several websites that can help.  Just send a followup confirming your intent.

Another option is to purchase a replacement engine from LR. They have a small block that is affordable and easier to accomodate in your series I Disco.

Let me know,

NB:  sounds like you're salvaging a wrecked 2003 for all its goodies!
