Land Rover Repair: cooling system, head gasket problem, ball buster

Question
I have a real ball buster, for some odd reason my range rover county jeep is building alot of pressure in the radiator hoses. I've tried changing the thermsotat, I've tried with the thermostat out which in fact is now without the thermostat, I gave it like five flush treatments.
The problem starts when the jeep is driven for more than 1/2 hour then the needle at the dashboard starts rising towards the red zone.
There is no sign of smoke from exhaust and no sign
of the oil being mixed with water. I really want
to stay with this jeep it drives very good and it's in great condition.

P.S. What do you make of this.

Answer
Hi Dennis,

usually, pressure related problems are linked to air trapped somewhere, a blocked rad or the water pump is 'tits up'!  I don't think its a head gasket problem:  your oil would be creamy and you would have noticed this by now - in a big way!

The flushings you gave reduce the possibility of air being trapped. During the 5 flushings, did you see any gunk deposited from the bottom of you rad?  If the flow was good, I'd consider the water pump as the source of your woes.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
