Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 1999 grand marquis, mercury grand marquis, grand marquis

Question
My 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis has a vibration. shudder at various speeds.  It feels like I am drving over safety ridges and the duration is about 2 seconds.  This problem does not occur when I am braking or coasting to a stop.  The car has 99,000 miles on it and it is in good shape.  The tires are still pretty good so I don't think that is the problem, but what do I know.

Answer
Hi Chuck,

If you are experiencing this problem mostly around 45 mph, you have torque converter chatter. Extremely common in Crown Vics, Town Cars and G. Marquis. There is a little tube of stuff called "shutter fix" availible at most auto parts stores that should do the trick. Ford says to have you bring it in for a transfussion, but I found the anti shutter works great.
