Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Eclipse, eclipse car, battery cables

Question
Car has been driving fine...until last night..my daughter drove it home..it had been in the driveway about 2 hours.. when she went to go out - wouldnt start- has lights etc. and I tried jumping it just to make sure...not even a click...could it be the starter??

Answer
Susan: First check the battery cables, are they in good working order. Sometimes it is hard to see, because they have covering on them. But something might have rusted though on one of those cables. Are you sure the battery is good in that all the cells are ok. The battery can show it has volts but it might have a bad cell. Then make sure the cables are tight on the battery, these little cars are very touchy about that. You could get someone to test the starter if they have a voltmeter, by touching the pos & neg posts on the battery, if then the key is turned the voltmeter shows a drop in the volts then you starter is bad. But if not then there is another problem. But test the battery and cables first. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
