Mitsubishi Repair: TPS problem, throttle position sensor, haynes book

Question
Hello,
Last week the "check engine" light lit up in my 1998 mitsubishi mirage DS. I was concerned so I took it to a couple of auto zones (just to be sure) so they can check it, what they told me is that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) needed to be changed. I would like to change it myself, but I would like to know how to do so, some info (preferible an image) on where the sensor is located, and the position it needs to be put in. Also if it needs to be andjusted so the computer can recognize it.
Thanks so much in advance...

Answer
Luis: First place go to that AutoZone and get a repair book for your car. That book will explain everything you need to know on how to change a Throttle Position Sensor. That sensor is on the top of the engine, in that the car will not need to be put on jack stands. I could walk you through it but the book will explain things and have pictures to help you. So get the repair book. When putting it in the negative cable will be removed from the battery, once you put that back on  the battery; the computer should find the  new part with no problem. Sometimes to get the check engine light to go off you have to again remove the negative cable from the battery and wait 5 minutes. Or else go back to AutoZone and they will get it off for you. So go buy that book and then you will know about everything you need to know about your car. Oh I would buy a Haynes book they are a bit easier to understand. Hope this helps and good luck!
