Motorcycle Repair: Honda C100 electrics, honda c100, bill silver

Question
I am putting the finishing touches to my C100. Just got 1 problem, doing my nut in - I bought a 20/20w headlight bulb and when I fitted it the indicators and horn stopped working.I realised this is the wrong wattage and after spending hours on the net I managed to locate the correct 15/15w headlight bulb but I'm still getting the same problem. Incidentally the speedometer bulb has blown too. Can you help?

Answer
Kieran, use the wiring diagrams here to be sure you are wired up correctly.

While the ignition is independent from the battery, the lights and horn do need a fully charged battery to help balance the electrical load. A low/dead battery allows the charging system to go to full output and fry the light bulbs.

Make sure your rectifier isn't shorted/open and that all the wiring connection colors match up at the ignition switch and in the headlight.
