Motorcycle Repair: 2001 nighttrain, harley davidson nighttrain, twin cam 88

Question
Mike my question is about fluid quantities and levels. My bike is a 2001 harley davidson nighttrain FXSTB. I Recently changed my oil, motor and primary, and my transmission oil. But i'm worried that I put in too much. The motor only took 3.5 quarts, and i let it drain with dipstick out for an hour. Now with the bike level the oil shows above the full mark. Is that too much for my twin cam 88? Also I used 24 oz. of trans fluid to my  new change, it also shows above the dipstick mark. Can you explain this to me, and do you know the factory recomended levels? I put exactly one quart to my primary also.

Answer
Check your motor oil sitting on the sidestand, not upright. Check the primary and the trans sitting upright. The motor takes about what you put in. the trans takes a little less than a quart, but check it with the dipstick. to fill the primary, remove the derby cover and fill to the bottom of the lip. take a little over a quart.
To much oil in either the trans or the oil tank will blow out the dipstick on the oil and go out the vent of the trans
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
