Motorcycle Repair: I stripped the spark plug threads FLHR, tbilisi georgia, motorcycle dealer

Question
HD Anniversary Road King FLHR 2003 has very low mileage 40K. Bike was running great however figured I should change the plugs that were original and never been taken out.  Back one came out easy. Front plug was a struggle to get out.  When I examined the spark plug threads from the front head they were full of pressed aluminum.  Of course I am very concerned shaving have fallen into the chamber.  I am stationed in Tbilisi Georgia and there is no motorcycle dealer any where to be found in this country. What is your suggestion, should I attempt a rethread.  Is it easy to take off the head and not have to take the whole engine out of the frame? I do have access to military postal system so I can send the head to a HD dealer to get fixed or should i just get a new head? Summer is coming fast and really want to start riding in the local mountains here so also I will consider quickest fix as well.  Les

Answer
First, if you pulled the threads out, there is nothing there to rethread. I would pull the head and inspect the cylinder for metal. You can go a couple of different routes on the head. You can either buy a new on, or what I do is born out the plug hole and install a steel insert with new threads. You would have to find a machine shop to do the borning and fiting.
You dont have to remove the motor to remove the head. If you are planning on doing the work yourself, you need to get a service manual to follow
Good luck and happy riding
