Motorcycle Repair: Gl1500 Alternator brushes, alternator brushes, slip rings

What are the steps for replacing the alternator brushes on a 1993 Gl1500? The alternator is out and disassembled.

replace both brushes, quickly unsolder the old
brushes and try not to get solder
into the hole for the brush wire.

-Solder the new brushes in with the marked side
facing the rear cover. They should have an
installed length of 18mm or 3/4".

-Work quickly to avoid too much heat,
you can cut the wires off after soldering
the brushes in.

-avoid using too much solder as it shouldn't
go down into the brush holder, it will
impair the movement of the brushes.

-check between your rotor slip rings for 3-4 ohms
resistance and no connection to the shaft.
