Motorcycle Repair: xlch68, netural, ironheads

Question
hello Mike, i have an ironhead xlch '68 an d i guess i have some problems first the engine runs goods but the rear exhaust pipe become blue color!please explain to me about timing and what about blue color on pipe!
second the same problems with clutch i cant get the neutral when engine runs!

Answer
Most pipes turn blue. It is caused from the heat of the exhaust. THere are some products out there that can remove the bluing, but it will come back.
What do you want to know about timing?
On those old ironheads, netural is very hard to find. You only have a small space on the shifter cam to hit when you are trying to find netural. The oly thing you can do is remove the trans and replace the shifter cam.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
