Motorcycle Repair: 2001 XR100R, ersco, time sert

My son cross threaded the spark plug into the cylinder head. Is there a spark plug repair kit available and do I have to break the engine down to repair?

Hi Rich,

The cylinder head should be removed for thread repair.

There are several types of thread repair products available. Heli-Coil and Time-Sert two very popular brands. Both are relatively easy to use with minimal cost. Both products require tools for instalation of their kits.
