Motorcycle Repair: cylinder head removal, wooden stake, bill silver

Question
I have a 1980 cx500 and i'm trying to remove the cylinder head all bolts have been removed along with the rocker arm assembly but the head will not budge any tips/ ideas that you could give to help me get it off

Answer
If the engine is still in the frame and the starter is hooked up, then put the spark plug in and turn the motor over with the electric starter. The compression should pop it off. Otherwise, you can use a large plastic mallet with steel shot inside, to give it some love taps in areas where you won't break off any parts of the head. Put a large wooden stake or dowel inside the intake or exhaust port and gently pry up, just using steady pressure, not a lot of brute force.
