Motorcycle Repair: 2006 500 Kawasaki Ninja, banjo fittings, honda product

Question
How do I install a Main Gallery Plug (part # 9206-1205) in a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 500R? I need to the torque range and how to check to make sure that the bike is getting Oiled. Thank you for considering my question.

Answer
Chris, my first question is why you need to know/do this?
Removed accidently? Trying to measure oil pressure? If there is a problem, I suggest returning it to the dealer, as it is still under warranty.

Not my brand and certainly not a vintage bike question, but I have spent time trying to see what your question is about and found references to it at:
http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/login.asp  The latest version the had was 2003, but they have been building the same bike/engine for many years.

I see that there is some kind of copper washer (I guess) on the plug, so I would suggest that you put a new one on when you reinstall the plug. Use about 12 ft lbs, or so to tighten. The washer should take care of any leaks as long as the surfaces on the block and back side of the bolt head are good. This isn't something that is normally serviced and I don't have any kind of specs for it, because it isn't a Honda product. I'm sure that a local Kawasaki service department could look up any specs for you.

You can loosen any of the external oil supply banjo fittings slightly, while the engine is running to see if there is oil flow to the top end. It should squirt out readily.

These bikes are known for reliability and durability, so I'm not sure what you are doing, exploring into the motor this way. If there are problems, take it to a dealer for proper diagnosis and repair, while it is under warranty.
