Nissan Repair: how to remove the plate where the heater controls are on dash?, nissan datsun, 4wd pickup

Question
hi there
this may seem like a simple question, but i am unsure as to how to proceed and dont want to screw anything up...
i am driving an 1984 nissan/datsun 4wd pickup. soon after buying the truck i went to turn the heat up and the plastic(and metal it was attached to)broke off.
i am left with no way to turn the heat on without taking the plastic off that covers it. thats where you hopefully come in :)
how do i go about prying it off without taking the whole dash off? is there a way?
it is getting too damn cold for me and my store bought seat warmer :)
thanks so much!

Answer
Hadley,

Remove the trim around the radio and control to gain access to the panel.  I would go to a wrecking yard to get a replacement.  Trim screws are at the bottom and under the top part.  There should only be four screws.  Then four more to get the control off.
