Nissan Repair: Evap Sensor Code 440, fuel hoses, tim tim

Question
Hi Von,
I recently replaced my Evap Sensor as I was getting two code( 440 small and I forgot the second code)  After replacing the sensor, it got rid of one code but the 440 is still there.  Is there a simple way to check the gas cap for a leak?  The vac hoses seem okay so I'm a bit stumped.  What do you think??

Tim

Answer
Tim,

Nissan had a problem with the evaporative hoses and clamps from about 2002 to the present.  I would get the car up on a lift and inspect all the fuel hoses and clamps along with the vapor hoses.  The cap usually does not go bad.  But, if yours is an older car that would a cheap check to see if the code will clear.  I have a 2003 350Z and ended up replacing all the hoses.  Seems the vendor Nissan used sold them rotten hoses.
