Nissan Repair: nissan pick up, board diagnostics, wiring harnes

will a 1997 nissan pick up insturment cluster fit a 1991 nissan pick up? I am currently half way through the whole dash board conversion it all seems to fit. only problem is the wiring harnes that feeds into the 1997 cluster does not fit, the wires are very similar. your thoughts?

You are going to have to pin out both harnesses to make sure you do not hook anything up wrong.  1991 is before On Board Diagnostics.  But, the normal stuff should be there.  The harness end from the new cluster can be unpinned from the harness and the old wires insterted.  But, you need both schematics to pit the wires in teh appropriate slots.  Nissan uses the same color codes.  But, the tint of the wires differ from year to year.  Also, vendor to vendor.  You really need the color codes from the schematic so you do not fry anything.  A really small pick or screwdriver can be used to pop the wires out of the harness.  There is a small clip that you push back and the pin comes out.
