Pontiac Repair: aztek 01, coolant temp, radiator cap

Question
QUESTION: hello Todd, I'm so tired, my wife´s truck have a big problem, when we drive like 5 miles, it start to to be hot, i change the head gasket´s, remove the thermostat, check the cooling fan´s, (working fine), purge the cooling system, change the radiator cap,the temperature sensor, but the truck still hot.
please help me i don't know what can i do, I'm desperate!!

ANSWER: Hi Mario:
did you have both head gaskets replaced on this. if coolant winding up in the engine oil? the oil wil have a milky look to it. are the fooling fans(S) turning on? when the fans turn on to you feel hot ar being blown out through the radiator and on to the engine meaning the radiator is trnasfering the heat to the air. is the plastic ari dam still in tact under the radiator support on the truck? Therese are tricky to bleed the air out of the cooling system. when the van is cold open the radiator cap and make sure the radtair is topped off as well as the over flow bottle is full to the cold spot. if you drive this with the thermostat out and it still runs hot that is not a good thing! is it indeed running hot of just the gage shows it running hot? do you have a thermometer you can place on the upper radiator hot and measure the coolant temp of then hose and see if indeed matches the gage? back to the air flow issue I have seen these things that are drive in areas where ther is a lot of tree pollen and or dir that the cavity between the radiator and the a/c condenser actually plug the the fins in the condenser and the radiator was it out with a garden hose if it appears to have a restricted air flow.

QUESTION: hi Tood, i change the both sides gaskets, the oil are clean, the fans are working fine, i feel  hot air flow from the radiator, the air dam are in position, and the gauges are working fine because the truck are really hot it makes bubbles in the overflow bottle when turn off the engine, i pull out the radiator and take it to a workshop for clean it the interior, it was clean. what you think about it? I'm bewildered.

Answer
Well it doesn't sound good. If you look around at the auto parts stores you can find an additive that you can ad to the cooling system and the dye will change color with the presence of hydrocarbons (meaning exhaust gases) leaking into the cooling system. If so you either have another head gasket issue a warped head or a cracked cylinder head. Look here :

These engines if they get really hot the cylinder heads crack in between the vlaves. The heads are aluminum and don't like excessive heat! :(
