my dad has a 2006 pontiac montana sv6 with 125,000 miles. today we were driving and the car loss power and surged at times it shot codes back of muti missfires and catylest below standards on bank one. can you tell me what to look for from lease to the most?  Thank you Brian

Hi Brian:

well I would check for fuel pressure first off. That engine requires between 45-50PSi of pressure any less and it will start to misfire and run rough. MAke sure you have spark on all 6 cylinders. As for the catalitic converter code it can just be worn out due to the milage on the car or it coule be damaged due to the engine running badly. LAst though it the converter could be plugged disconnect the converter from the rear manifold and dive it to see it it runs okay then. If it's plugged the engine can not breath right and will lack power. Good luck :)
