RV Repair: slideout, shear pins, dirt and grime

Question
I have a 94 Layton with a sofa only slideout. It binds after after a going in a foot. We removed the motor and it will not go in our out easily. Should the slides or bearings be greased? The bearings appear to have grease on them.

Answer
Richard, I would not grease the main rails they tend to collect to much dirt and grime causing more problems. Does it bind up then break free and run the rest of the way in or does it stop completely?
I would start at the gear box that the motor drives.Make sure you have no broken parts inside of it(shear pins or gears).Physically inspect the slide out mechanism and the bottom side of the slide out floor for anything loose or broken.

Thanks,Chad
