QuestionModel=917-377590/engine 143.986700 6.75HP eager-1. I need to repair/replace the starter rope that has pulled itself out of the starter housing. Would also like a referral to a good service manual (free preferred .pdf) for this mower/engine.
Answer You need to remove the starter from the top of the engine, which you will need 1/4" and maybe a 5/16" nutdriver, Then you will have to prewing the pulley, then thread in the replacement starter rope,
and then let the spring rotate the pulley and wind the rope back in, then reinstall on the engine.
Use a good quality pull rope from your local mower shop, and there you could likely buy a manual, or order one.
