Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GX 670, internal passages, honda gx

Question
Hi, John--We recently got a slightly-used (40 hours) Bearcat 8" brush chipper with a 24hp Honda GX670. It's worked great on a few tree jobs, but suddenly lacks power under load. The free-wheeling disc just won't come up to speed--maybe 3/4. When the drive belt is disengaged, the engine speeds up fine. We tried new plugs, but no difference. Engine compression is 80psi both sides. Any ideas? Thanks very much!!

Answer
Hello Bud:

>>From your Description it Sounds like there May be a Trash/Water in the Internal Passages of the Carburetor.
>>I suggest the First thing you do is Remove and Carefully Disassemble the Carburetor and Blow it Out with Compressed Air.
