Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no electrics, briggs and stratton, electric clutch

Question
I have a Rover Lawn King 17hp briggs and stratton ride on mower that has been working fine.  I had been using it for 3 hours this afternoon and it was turned off and it now won't start.  Nothing at all when the ingition is turned. No even a click. The brake is on the cutters are off and I can't find any other reason it won't start. There seems to be no electrics.  As if the battery is now disconnected.  Is is though.  Could this be a coil problem?
Regards.
Craig.

Answer
Inspect the fuses.  If a fuse blew there is a short somewhere.  If it is running fine for some time and then does this I would check for loose connections or loss of ground.   With the solenoid not clicking that means that there is a problem in the safety system.  Check seat switch, brake switch and PTO switch.  If you have an electric clutch check to see how many connectors are on the switch.  If there is 4 that is a double pole double throw switch.  Both have to be working to start the tractor.  Bare wires can cause this too.  Look where ever the wireing harness goes through the frame, around a cornet or comes close to metal that could poke through the shield.  The battery has to be installed to start this tractor.  You have to get the engine to turn before it can be a coil problem so it has to be the tractor electrical system.
