Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro engine repair, valve cover gasket, suzuki engine

I have a 1986 toro 21" walk behind with a 4 stroke suzuki engine. I wanter to know if the cyliner head being covered in oil, and gunk is normal, or a leaking valve cover gasket? And what is the head bolt tightening sequence and ft lb of torque used.

How many headbolts are on your engine and what size socket fits the headbolts?  There were a couple of variations on some of the Toro engines.

On an engine that old it is fairly common for oil to leak...nothing to really worry about unless you have to add oil every time you use the mower.
