Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stalling, briggs stratton, carburator

Question
Hi, my father's 6hp Briggs & Stratton Craftsman push mower has a stalling problem.  It will only stay running if you hold in the red  prime button, once I let it up the mower stalls again.  Appreciate any help.  Thanks

Answer
 Hello Joe:

From your Description, I suggest the Carburator be Cleaned and Rebuilt. Holding the Primer Bulb in Allows the Engine to Draw Gas through the Choke Jet therefore Bypassing the Main Jet. The Carburator has Trash/Water and Varnish Built up Inside the Carburator Passages and Jet. Soak the Carburator Overnight in Cleaning Solution. Blow All Ports and Passages Out with Compressed Air. Replace All the Parts Provided in the Rebuild including the Primer Bulb. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happen, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
