Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): pull cord, honda pressure washer, good luck

Question
I have a honda pressure washer and after I try to restart a warm engine the pull cord will be hard to pull out.  If I release pressure in the gun it will be easy for that pull, but I have to do it each time for each pull.

Answer
Hi Tim,

I suspect a leaking seal or one way valve that is allowing pressure to move back into one of the first stages of the pump.  Or it might be a frozen by-pass valve.  As long as the unit works well, it might just be easier to release the pressure at the gun, than getting into pump repair.  If it gets worse or you feel like repairing it, then take a look inside.  It should be clear how the flow moves and why there is resistance.

Good luck,
Michael
