Steering Column Repair: ignition switch replaced

1994 GMC Sierra 1500. Installing ignition switch. rented a puller and purchased a compression tool. Trying to get the snap ring off and can't figure out how even with the compression tool.

This is one of the most common problems with the GM tilt columns.  We have recently uploaded some pdf & video instructions on our company website (for a small fee) to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about.   They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions so you only need to purchase the step(s) that are giving you trouble.. Although the instructions are not for your exact car, the column is very similar to yours.  We suggest the set listed with (video) in the title.
