Steering Column Repair: 69 cadillac column, keyswitch, lock cylinder

Question
My 69 Cadillac has a problem with the key switch. It was working ok but would occasionally pop out or become loose during operation. Recently after a start it became stuck and now it will start and return to the run position but will not turn off. What's the fix?

Answer
Hello Jeff,
I can only suggest you take the steering wheel off and check for broken ignition switch parts if this is the type in the column. You will have to do this to remove the lock cylinder. My guess is the sector gear is broken.

If your keyswitch is located in the dash you can replace the complete keyswitch assembly after disassembling the dash to access it.

Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
