Subaru Repair: whinning sound, Subaru Wheel Bearing

Question
I have an '01 forester. When I drive as I accelerate the whining noise increases. I would best describe the sound equal to driving with "truck  mudding tires" the more i increase the speed the louder the noise gets.  I have put new tires all around. (they needed replacing) They are original size etc. The noise seems to be louder, but not sure.  Have had rear passenger side bearing replaced and tires rotated , noise still there.  Could it be the gears some where in the drive system, binding or something else?  Car has approx 125 k on it. Transmission is in good shpe, fluid levels are fine. when had car totally off ground, i tried to shake each tire. the front pass side moved laterally , the three others did not move at all, tight as a drum.  Hope gave you enough info, Thanks in advance ! What's the cause ?

Answer
Hey Brad,

Most likely you have a failed wheel bearing and or hub and it should be repaired fairly quickly. Another possibility is a differential bearing but much less likely.  With all four wheels up in the air rotate each wheel with one hand on the strut and spring assembly feel for roughness when turning the wheel if one is rough and the rest are smooth you have found "your Daisy"
