Subaru Repair: 1999 subaru outback, Subaru alarm problems

please help, my outback will not start do to the factory alarm, it was working find with just the key but now the alarm will cut off, I tried looking for the button cannot find it subaru said disconnect the negative cable with key on and this should reset the alarm, wrong still will not start, please help thanks tony

Maybe the alarm is not the issue?

The trick isn't disconnecting the battery cable with the key on it is with the key off disconnect the battery cable, turn the key on and reconnect the cable with the key on.

The valet switch will be there it is taped to the keyless harness.
