Towing Issues: Towing Laws, tow truck driver, towing company

Question
I was wondering if it is legal for a private towing company to go into the businesses they have contracts with during the work day and tell all of the people in the building that they must come and tell them their car is parked in the business parking lot immediately or it will be towed. Thank you!

Answer
well Legal I am not sure,   ETHICAL  I would go more for.

Follow this one, if you worked at a business that was next door to a bar. It had a parking problem which resulted in contracting with a towing service to remove parked vehicles which do not belong there.

Now most all towing companys that do towing in this manner either on call or by patrol towing (also called preditory towing ), the drivers will see vehicles and remember what is there most all the time.

Lets say the manager of the business finds 4 cars in the lot and does not know who they belong to.  He can call and have them towed.  But this day, your car is in the shop and you have a neighbors/ loaner/ rental car.

you have the right to be there, and that tow would be considered an invaild tow, and in 99% of the times the vehicle would be released back to you at no charge.

Now as a tow truck driver, I really hate working for free, and I know companies hate to loose money by doing things for free also.

I think you can see where it would be good pr, and I understand your point of being bothered by this also.
