I wrote you before about my 2001 4 runner. My check engine and vsc light came on. I went to Toyota and they said I had fueled it while running. Two weeks later it came back on. I went to a Toyota certified shop and they said it was pulling a few evaporation codes. They changed my charcoal filter. Then my gas cap. Then my fuel cut out valve. The codes were p0441,p0450 p0446,p0451 and p0442. After the canister was replaced, my car had trouble starting but only after fueling. It has been a week and the light has not come back on yet. It usually takes two to three weeks. But I don't know what else to do. I do believe they are trying to fix it but it is getting very costly. They are stumped about it not wanting to start after fueling. Please, is there anything you can think of? They have also run the machine with the smoke and it showed no leaks. Thank you so much for your help.  Vicki
Answer -
Using the smoke machine pretty much eliminates any leaks in the evap emission system so we can assume that there are no leaks and no check engine lights have come back on.
I'm afraid I can't be of much help either about the hard start condition after fueling, I have never heard of this and have searched toyota's database for any bulletins.
Does the engine not start right after getting gas?
Does it eventually start and how long does it take?
I guess what I'm trying to find out is the scenario of what actually takes place, do you fill the tank and then it won't start right there or do you drive off and then it won't start, I need more details on the no start or hard start condition and what happens when trying to start it.

Answer
Thanks for the reply, the phrase "engine won't turn over" means to me that when you turn the key to start the engine doesn't crank over, is this the case?
Please try to answer this question, does it crank over and not start or does the engine not do anything, is there any noise like a clicking noise?
