Triumph Repair: Clutch Slave Cylinder Spitfire 1969, clutch slave cylinder, pushrod

Question
I am replacing the Clutch slave cylinder and the pushrod "flops about" to the bottom of the mounting flange. How do I get the pushrod central so I can insert the new slave cylinder with the push rod going thru the center of the slave cylinder dust cover.
Also, should/can I remove the mounting flange to clean the area inside?
Many thanks .... Paul

Answer
Hi Paul,

Remove the two bolts and the mounting flange and put the mounting flange on the slave cylinder first and then the rod sticks out enough to guide it into the rubber boot. Don't install the pinch bolt until after you have it all mounted.
