Volvo Repair: 2001Volvo S60 T5 No Heat, temperature gauge, s60 t5

Question
Hello, Engine temperature gauge not getting up to normal. With heater fan set all the way hot it is blowing cool air.
Could it be anything other than thermostat?
How do I change thermostat?

Thank you so much for your expert advise!

Merry Christmas,

Bryan Sherwood

Answer
Bryan, most likely a thermostat issue and and the ECT sensor.  Drain the coolant, Remove the top cover to the timing belt, and you should be able to access the tstat housing.  Now, if this car has the thermostat behind the timing cover, Forget it, got to a Volvo Shop for replacement.  The sensor is there also.  There may be an issue with the ECC module but they would have to scan the car for diagnosis.  Merry Christmas to you as well.  Roger

Bryan, Sorry for being un-clear but like I said there are 2 types of systems on the 5 cylinder engine.  One is the easy one and the other is the hard one.  No real easy way to explain it.  Im glad you got it all worked out.  Take care.  Roger
