GM-GMC: GMC troubleshooting, gmc safari, old battery

Question
Hi,
I'm not sure if you can help me, but I thought I would ask. I have a GMC Safari 1998. When i went to start it this morning, it was completely dead. No battery power what so ever. About a month ago I had to have the van jumped, because the battery wasn't charged. Do you think it is possible that it is just a bad/old battery. Or does this sound more like something is draining my battery out of malfunction. Please let me know your thoughts. I thank you for your time!

Answer
Lauren,

If you jump start your van, you can take it to an auto parts store (such as AutoZone) and they will test the battery, starter, and charging system for free.

If you do not know how old the battery is, it may be the problem as a battery tends to die in the middle of winter or the heat of summer.  It may also be the battery's connections, the charging system not working properly, or some kind of drain on the battery when the vehicle is parked.

Your best bet is to get the vehicle tested, as I described above.
