Honda: 2001 Honda Accord Squeels, Honda, 4 cylinder Accord

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 HOnda Accord and it squeels really loud in the monrnings when damp outside or wet.  The car sits outside overnight.

ANSWER:  If the car is a 4 cylinder I'd check the engine belt tension, they are probably loose.

If the car is a 6 cylinder I'd check the A/C belt automatic tensioner, they tend to make noise in the damp conditions.

QUESTION: It is a 4 cylinder and I already tightened surpentine belt.  It tends to squeek more when the air conditioner is on.  Any more suggestions?

Answer
The alternator and a/c compressor use the same belt on the 4 cylinder model. I'd suggest tightening the belt some more. I'm assuming the outer drive belts have been replaced before. Look at the bracket below the alternator and adjust the tension to the location of the original belt. You'll be able to see the clean area that doesn't have surface rust on the lower bracket. Basically adjust the belt until the clean area is covered up by the lower bolt of the alternator.
