Honda: Honda Accord Battery, Honda, battery

Question
I just had my 2000 Honda Accord 75k servcing. I was told the battery needs replacing, as the CCA was 350 and volts were 7.8.
The car starts fine, I drive on average 5 miles/day and live in warm weather. Do I need to replace the battery, or recharge it, or neither?

Answer
Your car has a battery with cold cranking amperage rating of around 455cca to 550cca if it has the original battery. With that said a read out of 350cca should give it a noticeable slower crank. A battery with 7.8 volts wouldn't start the car. So either that was misstated or not true. In fact, the industry standard for a bad battery was one below 9.6v when loaded with the old VAT-40 tester. The new hand held digital battery testers used in most shops these days work very well. These battery testers are also equipped with thermal printers for printing the test results. I'd ask for your battery test print out.  Autozone parts stores use the same tester and they typically test batteries at no charge.
