replaced battery of 4 years old for new,since then car starts ok first time but when car is taken out and we come to a halt the engine stops but starts again first time and again stops when we come to a stop

Check the battery wires and connections for corrosion first.

I'm not a vitara guy, but rather a Samurai guy, so am not that familiar with vitara.

It's possible that when the battery was disconnected, the ECM "lost" memory of idle parameters.

On some later cars, the relearn process takes about 30 minutes of driving.

Mind you this is just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess), and it may be something else entirely.
