When a vehicle is having seemingly unexplainable problems, the problem often lies in the fuse box. Vehicle fuses affect everything electrical in the car, including some that may not occur to you. Diagnosing a problem with your Honda CRV should begin with an inspection of the fuses. Changing a non-functioning fuse is simple.
Make sure that the Honda CRV is not running and the ignition is switched off before you begin.
Locate the fuse box. In a Honda CRV, the fuses are under the hood on the left side. Additional fuses can be found in the vehicle under the steering column.
Push the tab on the fuse box to reveal the fuses.
Find the fuse corresponding to the problem your CRV is having. A chart listing each fuse and its function is on the inside of the fuse box cover.
Inspect for blown fuses. A blown fuse will be discolored or have a melted look. Remove the fuse with a fuse-pulling tool.
Determine the rating of the fuse in need of replacement. The fuse rating is listed on the chart that identifies the function of each fuse.
Replace the spent fuse with a new one of the same rating. The fuses for your Honda CRV are standard automotive fuses. Look for other fuses that may need to be replaced.
Close the fuse box and test the fuses by attempting to perform the problematic operation (turn on the lights, use the signals, etc.).
