  • Socket
  • Floor jack
  • piece of wood
  • New serpentine belt
  • Open your vehicle's hood and find the engine mounts, which is near the passenger seat of your engine bay. With your ratchet and socket, take out both bolts that hold the mount in place.

  • Raise the engine with your jack until the upper portion of your mount lies 1 inch or more above the lower portion of the mount.

  • Find the diagram of your belt-routing mechanism that sits on your plastic fan shroud, and use this document to help you complete this process.

  • Take off the belt from its accessory pulleys. To do this, turn your tensioner clockwise with a socket. You can turn the tensioner with the bolt that sits in the middle of its pulley; then ease the belt from beneath your tensioner pulley.

  • Remove the belts from every pulley. Ease out your belt from between the upper and lower parts of your engine mount.

  • Insert your new belt in the middle of both sections of your engine mount. Wrap your new belt around your pulleys, as the routing diagram indicates. Turn the tensioner clockwise and ease the belt along the bottom of your tensioner pulley.
