How to Replace a '95 Honda Civic Antenna

The antenna mounted on the roof of a 1995 Honda Civic is designed to carry radio signals to the stereo. Not every model of '95 Civic came with an antenna, but they all came with a hole for one. If your Civic needs an antenna installed or if you need to have yours replaced because it has been damaged, then you can do so with basic tools. This should take about 45 minutes to do correctly.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 10 feet of twine
  • Replacement antenna
  • Lean underneath the dashboard. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the dashboard trim panel below the stereo radio to the rest of the dash. Pull the panel down from the dashboard to access the underside of the stereo.

  • Unscrew the radio from the underside of the dashboard using the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the antenna lead off the back of the stereo and tie one end of the twine to the end of the antenna lead.

  • Unscrew the antenna from the roof of the car using the flathead screwdriver. Pull the antenna out of the hole on the roof, then pull the rest of the antenna lead with it until you get to the piece of twine. Undo the twine, leaving it in the antenna hole.

  • Tie the end of the twine to the antenna lead on the end of the replacement antenna. Push the antenna lead into the hole in the roof. Move to the inside of the car and pull the twine to get the antenna lead all the way through the vehicle's interior until the end comes out behind the stereo. Secure the replacement antenna into the roof using the flathead screwdriver.

  • Plug the antenna lead into the back of the stereo and reinstall the stereo and dashboard trim panel using the Phillips screwdriver.
