Ignition keys can be programmed on many Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs. These keys are electronically synced to your engine, and add extra convenience and security to the vehicle. You can program your keys to your car's engine in just a few minutes from your driver's seat. Once programmed, you will be able to use your keys right away. You can use the same sequence to reprogram the keys whenever needed.
Close all of your vehicle's doors and windows. Insert your ignition key into the outside door lock on the driver's door.
Lock and unlock the door one time, and remove the key.
Enter the car, close the door behind you and insert the key into the ignition.
Leave the key in the ignition, and wait for the security light in the car to turn on.
Wait 15 seconds with the security light on; remove the key from the ignition. Press the brake pedal five times after you remove the ignition key. This will end the programming process.
