How to Program the Keyless Entry in a 2005 Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer is a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that features keyless-entry technology. This technology can be equipped on various Ford vehicles and can be installed by the dealership. Once programmed, you can use the remote to pop your trunk with your hands full, access your door locks without fumbling with your keys or sound your panic alarm. You can program your own remotes in just minutes from your driver's seat and have them ready to use immediately.

  • Enter your car and have your keyless remote and ignition key in hand.

  • Insert your ignition key into the Explorer's ignition and cycle the key quickly to "Run" and back to "Off" eight times. Do this in about 10 seconds.

  • Wait for the locks to click after ending in "Run" at the end of the eighth cycle.

  • Press and hold any button on your keyless remote and hold it until the locks click again. This will sync that remote to the system.

  • Repeat step four with any additional remotes, and remove the key from the ignition when you are finished.
