How to Replace a Flasher in a 2000 Blazer

For the Chevy Blazer, the 2000 model year was part of the second generation of this SUV that began in 1983, known then as the S-10 Blazer. This sport utility vehicle with its aerodynamic and fashionable design was the smaller cousin to the full-size K5 Blazer introduced in 1969 and renamed the Tahoe in 1994. Chevy accordingly dropped the Blazer's S-10 designation in 1995.

  • Open the glove box and remove the contents. Push up on the glove box door retaining latch at the top left of the glove box hole, until it disengages and releases the door. Allow the door to swing open and out of the way.

  • Locate the flasher unit. It is a cube-shaped unit, possibly with a green retaining strap holding it in place, to the right of the fuse block. Remove the strap and pull the flasher straight out of its socket.

  • Install the new flasher in its socket and install the strap. Test the system. Push the glove box door into place until the retaining latch engages with the glove box. Replace contents and close the glove box.
